It allows all your system MTA's filtering, forwarding, and aliasing facilities to work just as they would on normal mail.

Fetchmail offers better protection against password-sniffing than any other Unix remote-mail client. It can be configured to support end-to-end encryption via tunneling with ssh, the Secure Shell. We don't really recommend this, though, as it may lose important envelope-header information.

Fetchmail can be started automatically and silently as a system daemon at boot time. When running in this mode with a short poll interval, it is pretty hard for anyone to tell that the incoming mail link is not a full-time "push" connection.

Troubleshooting “Cannot Get Mail” Errors on iPhone and iPad

Fetchmail is easy to configure. You can edit its dotfile directly, or use the interactive GUI configurator fetchmailconf supplied with the fetchmail distribution. It is also directly supported in linuxconf versions 1. Fetchmail is fast and lightweight. Fetchmail is open-source and free software. See the Fetchmail Feature List for more about what fetchmail does. See the Fetchmail Design Notes for discussion of some of the design choices in fetchmail. The developers use Git for revision control. I never understood the benefits of using Outlook in OSX. Under windows I have used it a lot, there it was ok. Apple Mail must be the worst app that Apple has written. It is miserably unprepared for the enterprise and cannot be used effectively in a business setting because it is way too unreliable. I have no tried to switch 4 times after monumental announcements about its new functionality and its improvements.

Thank You Gilbert!!!! Holding down shift when starting Mail fixed the problem and the problem messages were then able to be closed. Every OS X update nowadays breaks something while supposedly fixing something else, Apple is really letting loose. Yes, Apple techs must be justifying their pay checks with this garbage.

This is so true. Seriously, who has that much time to troubleshoot these constant bugs?

Sadly, Apple has really lost its focus on producing smooth running software. The only solution that I found finally worked was to delete the mail account, close and re-open Mail and re-establish the account. Irritating to say the least! Have you managed to retrieve your emails. Mine have all disappeared too after upgrading to EI Captain. And some of the emails are really important. Upgrade — more like downgrade. Some one please help. I have the same problem; but when I delete the account, close and reopen mail or even restart the MBP — twice!

So Mail is unusable with El Capitan so far! I think I have more trouble with this than since my first Mac in ! Now my mac mail inbox does not display message body and no idea how to fix it. I am starting to despise Apple as i did Microsoft. Guys, why not just leave things alone that work! Trying to run a business and wasting time on this is infuriating to say the least. Same exact problem. Have you been able to resolve this problem? Name required. Mail will not be published required. All Rights Reserved.
